On the 25^th October the two members of my group Eddie and Ryan filmed the opening sequence to the film. The only props that were needed were the duct tape and package envelope. Throughout the scene Eddie was filming whilst Ryan played the actor needed in the scene. The scene was about a package being secretly wrapped with duct tape and hidden under clothing. The sequence was filmed over an afternoon. By doing our shot list we had analysed the exact shots needed for the scene that would cause the build-up of tension that we desired. The use of our story board allowed us to plan the exact scenes needed for the sequence. However when filming the lighting did provide some problems.

When brainstorming name ideas for our production company we decided that our name would have to be short, catchy and memorable. It needed to stick in the audiences mind as well as be professional. We struggled to find a simple name that had a professional and serious touch. We came up with a few names under the title of ‘Loyal’. They were:

·         Loyal studios

·         Loyal Productions

We chose the title loyal as we decided it was professional and catchy, people would remember it.

I went back to the Art of the Title to research how the professionals portray their credits in their openings to their films. We wanted to find out how they did them and what they included in the credits. We looked through many different examples, doing this gave us a variety of fonts and useful ideas for our credits. Some of the credits that caught our eye and that we could integrate into our credits were: Directed by, Editing Director, Producer, Music by, Film Director, the staring actors and our film name.

The numbers portray the order in which we want to show our credits. Whilst researching it was clear that a lot of professional companies used varying fonts, for example

The text is also in the same colour to leave a professional touch and it makes it clear to the audience that this is a part of the credits.

When brainstorming film title ideas within our group we managed to whittle down our ideas to four main ones. We took a liking to these four titles as they are catchy, short and memorable. However the main reason was that these four words link to our film story. Each defines a different way of processing a parcel, because in our film the boy is the courier, conveyor, porter or carrier of the parcel.

Zen (BBC1 2011 Sunday evenings) is an excellent example of a crime/detective drama series whose opening efficiently establishes its genre, locations, themes and tone right from the start. You know that it is a crime drama because it opens with a dramatic theme tune in the background. The theme tune is mysterious and intriguing. It also includes men dressed in sophisticated black tie suits and their faces are covered by black sun-glasses. The crime genre is also established through scenes such as the repeated guns and shots of the Questura whom which are the Italian police headquarters.

Italianicity is conveyed through repeated colours that assemble the colours of the Italian flag (red, white, green). We also receive an idea of the location as this is established through the constant shots of the iconic Roman buildings such as the dome of St Peters which towers over the Vatican. The building styles are iconic to Italy.

 

Fiat Cinquecento cars whom which are an Italian brand, are stacked up in parking spaces which connotes the crowded city of Rome. The colour codes of the Italian flag again are featured, which connotes Italy.

Heavy breathing looking in mirror	We will turn the camera so it is facing into a mirror and he will turn his head facing the mirror not knowing the camera is there so we can see his face and emotions.	§  Ryan Evans	§  Same setting as before §  Mirror	The reason we are doing this is so the audience can see his face and look at the fear in his facial expression.
Tucking it under his shirt	The next shot will be him lifting up his shirt to tuck this package into his trousers and then quickly pull it down to make sure no one can see it	§  Ryan Evans	§  In the middle of his room now but same setting and lighting §  Appropriate clothing	This is so it shows he is getting ready to go somewhere
Footsteps walking out of the room	The final shot of this particular scene in the bedroom will be a close up of his hand turning off the speakers and then a quick change to his legs/feet walking out the room, closing the door behind him	§  Ryan Evans	§  Same setting as before §  Speakers	The reason we do this is to emphasis that he is leaving his bedroom to go somewhere
Walking down the stairs, thumping sounds of someone walking down the stairs	The first shot will be from the top of the stairs at a low angle shot of him going down the stairs. The slam of the door closing	When Ryan comes down the stair he will be in the hall way getting ready by making sure his hairs all good and putting on a jacket to make sure the package is secure and his hidden we will do this by doing an over the shoulder shot in the mirror and then a up close shot of his hand zipping up his jacket and pulling it down so the package isn’t visible.	·        Ryan Evans	·        A zip up jacket ·        A hall way with a mirror	This will also by quite fast pasted flipping from shot to shot to show that he is getting ready to go out somewhere and build some tension.
Door slamming shut	The in the final shot of this scene it will be of Ryan leaving the house. We will show this by having the camera placed in the hall way and him opening the door and walking out side. Then the final shot will be a close up shot of his hand closing the door from the outside.	·        Ryan Evans	·        Same setting in the hall way ·        A door	This will be at a normal pace of him actually opening and closing a door.
